Spiritual Awakening: Taking The Higher Ground!!!

Former Miami Heat Dance Team Captain Joins the ABA South Florida Gold ... Whoever thought that GOD would send a message during my spiritual awakening process through a challenge from a coach of an opposing team. As many of you who read this blog on a regular basis know I am The PA Announcer for The South Florida Gold of The  American Basketball Association. On Sunday, 2/22/2015, I was announcing the game when in the 4th quarter things got heated due to the number of team fouls recorded against The Gold the opposing coach for The Midnites was irate and started to pound the scorer’s table and then was very aggressive toward the team owner of The Gold, who was keeping the official book so I stood up told the coach to take a seat and he got belligerent at which time I said don’t make me come from behind this table to which he challenged me to come from behind the table. Being a man of great integrity I came from behind the table and then one of his biggest players came in between us so I decided to take the higher ground and go back and sit down to which the lady keeping the book for their team said to someone he almost got himself killed. She didn’t realize that at the time I could handle myself but in taking a deep breath and stepping away I became the bigger person. At the end of the game the final score was Midnites 115- Gold 111. I went and did the right thing and shook the coach’s hand to which he said no hard feelings and wished all the opposing players good luck the rest of the season. I learned that next time let the person vent and don’t buy into their anger because anger only diminishes our vibration and puts us in a bad light. The Key to remember when someone is being confrontational is that GOD sees all and wants you to take a higher ground. I was reminded that if I am to grow in spirit and create a oneness consciousness that I must check my ego at the door and just allow things to unfold and if someone is going to get that bent out of shape over a basketball game they have bigger issues that the way team fouls were being recorded.

spiritual lessonsAs I sat in quiet reflection this morning, 2/23/2015, I realized that regardless of the outcome of a basketball game, a baseball game, a football game or any sporting event at the end of the day the result is but a minuscule speck on the landscape of life. The lesson I learned from the events of yesterday is that anger doesn’t solve anything and it creates blockages that interfere with your ability to make a mind, body, and soul connection that will allow you to perform at higher levels. Anger does not serve us as it takes away from the ability to create peace, love, joy, and prosperity. Yesterday GOD sent a clear message that sometimes just sitting back and saying nothing is the best way and that being a peaceful warrior.  Sometimes it is the hard lessons that propel us to become more evolved spiritually so that when challenges occur we are better equipped to face them. Many times we get so caught up in wanting to win what amounts to just a game that we lose site of the big picture and that is answering the question as to how am I adding value to someone’s life. My getting angry and almost getting physical was not going to lift up anyone and it was only going to diminish the way I was seen in the eyes of others and the eyes of  GOD.

Spiritual Awakening: I’ve Got Your Manifestation Right Here!!!

Manifestation Quote In the spiritual awakening process it is importance to understand how what we think about we create. As I sat in meditation this morning (1/30/2015) listening to the Chakra Clearing CD by Doreen Virtue I began to feel a sense of calmness and release come over me as I began to understand that with the help of GOD I could bring my thoughts to fruition. After the meditation I sat and I began to do an introspective search as to the way I was going about things and how things were occurring in my personal and professional life. I started to look at how things I had done were manifesting themselves in my life. I started looking at the energy that I was bringing to the events of my life and I realized that when things were challenging I was too attached to the outcome.  I realized that it is great to take action but you must look at how that action will affect others and how it will be perceived. As many of the frequent visitors to this blog know I am very involved with The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of West Boca Raton and my passion for raising money to help cancer patients, their friends, and their families runs very high.  The other day I received an email about the signing up of 8 new teams for Relay  and in my excitement did a reply to all as I thought that as a committee it is important that we support one another and celebrate each other. I asked everyone to please focus on getting more teams and to support the following fundraiser.

Hurricane Grill Give Back The event lead(chair) left me a very angry  voice mail and a very scathing email. I took many deep breaths and I politely expressed to him why I did what I did and he took it as me usurping his power. So I told him in the future I will let you handle all communication. The lesson I learned here is that many people are driven by EGO and thus get angry and because of this many be holding themselves back.  He did make it a point to tell me he was a millionaire  and had his own successes.  As part of the spiritual awakening process I have learned to not take anything personally, and to always do my best. When I detached from the situation and realized that I was dealing with someone who did not understand the idea that it is not about power and position but it is about everyone working together for the common good of the event so that we have a successful event. The way to avoid this in the future is to understand that EGO is edging god out and while many will profess to be following a GOD like path one must remember that not everyone who goes to church is pious and upstanding. When we detach ourselves from the outcome we are able to become better manifesters. In many cases we must come alive and alleviate the fear of walking in and speaking our truth so as to be of service and value to the community. In a way I manifested this because I want my fundraiser to be successful.

Spiritual Awakening: Let Your Heart Lead The Way!!!

Awaken Your Spiritual Heart: Your Doorway to God’s LoveAs I sat in quiet meditation on Saturday 12/6/2014 while at The Relay For Life Leadership Summit I was compelled to write the following:

 

LIGHTS OF THE HIGHWAY

     The Lights of The Highway led the way to a special place called Relay
     Some Came To Celebrate
     Some Came To Remember
     All Came To Fight Back
    The Track Was Lined With Luminaria Honoring and Remembering Those Touched by This Disease
    For a Moment Their pain Is At Ease
    The Lights Of The Highway Flicker and Dim Giving A Glimmer Of Hope
    That ThIs Is A Fight We Can Win
The Lights of The Highway Shut Down
     And Frowns are Turned Upside Down
     For The Next Mile is Filled With Smiles
     The Lights of The Highway Are Now In the Rearview
     As there is Now Hope For And You.
   ... spiritual” heart . The spiritual heart is the center of love withinAs I finished writing the above I began to think about the spiritual awakening process and how important it is to let your heart lead you. I also realize that the divine purpose that you are called for is found inside of you. It was at the moment when the sun rose that I realized that this was the day the lord hath made and that I would be glad and rejoice in it. I decided to begin to start greeting people with the phrase hello you are awesome. As I did this I noticed a shift and how people became more energetic and more receptive.  As I continued to do this I saw an energy come to life that became contagious and people were recommitting themselves to help those touched by cancer. As the closing ceremonies came to an end all I could think about was the 12 year old boy Cole who was battling brain cancer and his mom and dad. As I settled in for the bus ride home all I could think about was how important it is to lead with your heart and follow the messages from GOD.
Gabrielle Bernstein | December 3, 2011With my heart on fire and filled with spirit today (12/7/2014) I decided to ask GOD what to do. the answer was do what is in your heart. My heart was filled with a desire to share Relay For Life with everyone I came in contact at Starbucks and let GOD’S hand touch my heart and lead the way. In allowing for GOD to direct you and lead with your heart you might be able to change someone’s life. It is when we  allow ourselves to lead with the heart that we open up a realm of possibilities that we never knew existed. When our heart leads our mind will follow and we will divinely guided to make a difference in our lives and the lives of others.

Spiritual Awakening: Shaken Not Stirred!!!!

 

 In the James Bond movies he has a catch phrase when ordering his martini, Shaken Not Stirred. As I reflected back on this phrase I immediately thought that there are many times when we take action that we are shaken and not stirred and when we are shaken we must find something to un-shake us and put us back on our spiritual path that will allow us to continue in the spiritual awakening process. This song was one of the reminders that if you have faith and you create a oneness consciousness you will not be shaken, however if you are shaken you can get back on track. In answering your calling and following your heart you will have some detractors who will do their best to shake you and take you off of your path. Do not allow these naysayers and doubters to shake you simply detach from them and move forward in the positive direction of your dreams. As you begin to change those that are involved in your life will change. At first this may shake you up as you eliminate people and things that no longer serve you. As you get past the initially shake up you will begin to come alive and see that you have greatness inside of you and that it is time to step into your power.

Spiritual Awakening: Shaken Not Stirred- A Success Story!!!

 Sometimes in our efforts to be of service and value we will be shaken as not everyone will resonate with our efforts. In my quest to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays through my involvement with Relay For Life I used to take it quite personally when someone said no or made an excuse or was mean towards me. I recently realized that if I am shaken this doesn’t serve my purpose and that I must detach from the outcome and continue to do what I am comfortable with. I was a bit shaken during the fundraising for The 2014 American Cancer Society Relay For Life because I kept comparing my results with the results of others.  As I was telling someone that I have raised $1862 so far they said that is great. I replied yes but there are people who have raised a lot more. The person’s response to me after that was JDOGG you have to stop comparing yourself to what others have done your $1862 is $1862 that the organization didn’t have before you did fundraising. I reflected on his words and thought he is right. It was at that point that I became un-shaken and continued to do the fundraising the way I was comfortable and looked at each dollar raised as a triumph. I began to use the concept of gratitude and instead of being shaken I was able to stay the course an now look at from the perspective that some money raised is better than no money raised. I now look at the detractors in a different light as I know some will, some won’t, so what, some waiting, next.

Spiritual Awakening: Taking Goodness To The Limit!!!

 

 As I was reading through my Facebook feed today I saw many great posts about the goodness people are doing to help others in their respective communities. I began to think what if we could capture this spirit of goodness and make it last all through the new year? What if we could all experience a spiritual awakening and recognize that we are all interconnected and because of that inter-connectivity we have a responsible to take action to help others in our community. I remember watching the Bill Murray movie, Scrogged, and the final scene where he speaks about miracles happening and thinking what if we could push this idea of goodness to the limit. I remember watching Jim Carey in Bruce Almighty and the scene of him with Morgan Freeman’s character, GOD, and GOD explaining what a real hero was and thinking about how true his statements were about everyday people doing extraordinary things.

 When you have a spiritual awakening you begin to understand your calling and your purpose and you find ways to push it to the limit. many things in your personal and professional life begin to change. You start to come alive and you find a sense of giving that leads to serving the community and thus taking goodness to the limit!!! In math we talk about approaching limits understanding you never reach the limit because the limit doesn’t exist. This is also true in life as there is no limit to the goodness you can do. You are capable of so much more than you think.  Many times prior to a spiritual awakening we find ourselves limiting ourselves because we buy into the negative self talk and the naysayers. It is when we dismiss the negative self talk and tell the naysayers to pound sand that we begin to push the limits of our goodness. How many times have you not pursued something because of what someone else said? If you find yourself around doubters and negative energy take a step back detach yourself from the situation and commit to moving forward to push the limit of your goodness because you are capable of much more than you think you are.  So many time we allow limiting beliefs to hold us back because of an underlying fear of moving forward and thus we never manifest our dreams. I am reminded of the scene from the movie, Accepted, when Bartlebee asks the board that is about to decide the fate of his college what they wanted to be when they were growing up and what they ended up settling for.  How many times have you settled instead of pushing the limits of your goodness?
