Spiritual Awakening: Do Your Thing!!!

Words to follow to enhance your personal and professional life

The year was 1989 I had recently joined The Coral Springs Jaycees and I was sitting in a meeting where they were discussing cancelling the annual holiday shopping spree for disadvantaged youth. I stood up and I said I have an idea why don’t we go to local businesses and ask them to sponsor kids. They answered we have never done that before. In my unique JDOGG way I answered why not. They didn’t have an answer. It was at this time that I realized that sometimes you simply have to do your thing and make things happen. I went out and started to ask people that I had done business with to support the effort. At the next meeting I stood up and presented the Coral Springs Jaycees with just over $2000 to take 40 children on a holiday shopping spree. Over the next few weeks I set up several fundraisers including standing outside the KMART where we would hold the shopping spree. When the shopping spree arrived I had helped to raise enough money to take 64 children holiday shopping. Over the next 18 years I would be the Chairperson for The Spreading The Joy Program with The Coral Springs Jaycees and we would feed over 360 families for Thanksgiving and take over 900 children holiday shopping. Unfortunately The Coral Springs Jaycees no longer exist however the lessons I learned as a member and chapter president serve me today as I continue to grow personally, professionally, and spiritually.

JDOGG With Group 260 From The U.S. Peace Corps Philippines

I took my teachings about the brotherhood of man transcending the sovereignty of nations to The Philippines as a member of The U.S. Peace Corps where I served in The English Language Assistance Program where I taught at- risk youth English, Math, and Livelihood Skills at a Regional Rehabilitation Center For Youth in Bauaung, La Union. I served from July 2002 until February 2003. In those 6 months I became more and more spiritually aware and awake as I immersed myself into a culture that I was always intrigued by. It was in those 6 months that I came to understand what Mahatma Gandhi meant went he said the way to find yourself is to lose yourself in service. Upon arriving home in February 2003 I found myself less concerned with materialistic things and more concerned with being of service and value to others. I guess you can call this new found awareness a spiritual awakening of sorts as I found myself less focused on the big house, the fancy car, and the expensive clothes and more focused on empowering and inspiring others. In continuing on my spiritual journey I have come to draw from my experiences as a Jaycees member and a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer to make a mind, body, soul connection and to continue to show the world that one man can make a difference by doing his thing and not worrying about what other people think.

In thinking outside the box you will begin to manifest the life you desire

I have been told that I am an out of the box thinker and sometimes my ideas simply overwhelm people as they can not wrap their head around a new concept because they have not been programmed that way. This is why I continue to do my thing and make things happen. I am always amazed to see a concept I came up being adopted by others and thinking I thought of that years ago and you are first doing that now. In 1990 I was one of the 1st people to hold a Spirit Night For Charity with a local restaurant. Today Give Back Nights have been adopted by many restaurants across the nation because they strengthen their brand and increase their revenue. I have always been a bit ahead of the curve as I have tapped into my inner divinity that allows me to use my creativity to make a difference in the communities where I live, work, and play. I remember the first time I did Shout Out For A Cure at a little league football game and raised nearly $100 for The American Cancer Society  and people said what a great idea. Today many leagues use shout outs as fundraisers. As I reflect back over the last 40 plus years of being involved in charitable endeavors I realize that this has been my purpose all along as I have been sent to help other people excel by doing my thing.

Beanie Babies For The Cure is a program developed by Jonathan JDOOG Lederman

As I continue to do my thing I have developed a program Beanie Babies For The Cure which raises funds to attack cancer from every angle by funding research, education, advocacy, and services. This concept came to me back in May of 2018 when a friend gave me Beanie Babies and I started to give them to cancer patients. Then I brought them out to The Antique Fair at The Festival Marketplace to raise funds for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life and as a result Beanie Babies For The Cure was born. When you are connected to GOD and you head GOD’S Messages you are able to do your thing and make a positive impact on the world around you. It doesn’t matter who the president is, who is in congress, or who is on the supreme court as you have the power to do your own thing and thus be of service and value to others. As you continue on your path toward enlightenment you will encounter doubters, haters, and naysayers do not listen to them and continue to do your thing for at the end of the day the only things that matter are if you lived your life in joy and if your life brought joy to others. That $500,000 home, that $80,000 car, and the $2,000 suit well you can’t take them with you. When GOD calls you home you will either be buried or cremated and all those materialistic things will be left behind. So continue to do your thing and remember that you are simply dust in the wind.

I sat in reflection after a successful Strike Out Cancer Day with The Sunrise Sharks Travel Baseball Team and I couldn’t get the song Dust In The Wind Out of my head. I remembered a spiritual teaching that we came into the world as dust and in we will leave this world as dust so cherish all we have and embrace the chance to be a lifter for it is when we lift others that we are lifted. As you continue along your spiritual path do your thing and stay focused, centered, and grounded as you answer your calling.  Namaste!!!

Spiritual Awakening: Turning Dreams Into Reality!!!

Spiritual Awakening: Turning Dreams Into Reality!!!

As you experience a spiritual awakening and become an action taker you will find it easier to turn dreams into reality. When you  decide to turn dreams into reality you will find yourself becoming more and more aware and awake as you tap into your inner divinity and change your thoughts from lack to abundance. When you reach deep into your heart and find the power to act upon your dreams you will find that you attract more peace, love, joy, and prosperity into your life. The minute you decide that nothing is impossible because the word itself says I  am possible you will find it much easier to turn your dreams int reality. It is important to ignore those that say you can’t do something and find those who will lift y up and encourage you to do what it is that you are doing. Many times we create blockages because we buy into the negativity that others are dishing out thus we do not act upon the dreams that we hold inside of us leaving us to wonder what might of been or could have been. Now is the time to take action and don’t allow the negative talk of others or your own negative self talk to hold you back. It is time for you to come alive and share your vision with the world so you will shine bright and give others permission to do the same. It is time to detach from outcomes and simply find ways that you can be of service and value to your community. When you are committed to turning dreams into reality you will find that you experience a shift in your personal, professional, and spiritual life that begins to attract bliss and abundance to everything that you do.

Spiritual Awakening: Rock Your World!!!

Spiritual Awakening: Rock Your World!!!

When you commit to taking action and getting on your spiritual path you also need to commit to rocking your world. The first step to rocking your world is to look at what is serving you and what is not serving you. Evaluate people and things and ask the question is this serving me and helping me to achieve a greater good. If the answer is no then eliminate that person or thing. Sometime we hold on to people or things and we actually hold ourselves back from reaching the pinnacle of our life. The idea is for you to make your own highlight reel and not worry what others may think. In doing things differently and rocking your world you are going to have detractors and those who don’t understand. The simple fact of life is to flow with that which serves you and allows you to walk in your truth and  enhance your personal, professional, and spiritual life.
When you choose to rock your world and to walk in your truth you will unleash your inner champion. In becoming a champion you will rock your world as you make a mind, body, soul connection thus taping into a divine power that will guide you toward the greatness and prosperity that is your birthright. I have found that when I am focused on shining my light and illuminating the world that nothing can stop me from rocking my world. I have cone to understand that there will be people that do not appreciate your talents and will use their perceived power to block you it is when this happen that I remind myself that  I am a divine child of GOD and GOD has great plans for me.  I also remind myself that at the end of the day all that truly matters is did I live the day in joy and did I bring joy to others. I further remind myself that all I have to do is please myself, walk in my truth by honoring and praising GOD and everything will work out. To be a champion and rock you world stay connected to GOD and his plans are far greater than yours.

Spiritual Awakening: We Are All GOD’S Children!!!

Spiritual Awakening: We Are All GOD’S Children!!!

As the news came in about Paris, Nigeria, Bali, Beirut, and other parts of the world about acts of terror I kept thinking we are all GOD’S children and now is time to show the world that the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations.  As I scrolled through my Facebook Page and saw all The French  Flags I thought why not a universal peace flag that would encourage people to show love toward one another.

I saw many people spewing anger and saying things like you can not coexist with people who want to kill you. I thought about Gandhi and the quote an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind and how important it is to find ways to allow people to simply be who they are and to drive out hate by showing love. If we were to focus on the root of the issue with terror and how it has become the topic of the week we would see that many people are so caught up in proving that they are right they forget about doing the right thing.  I then decided to change my focus and started posting positive things  and encouraging people to do the same. Instead of just sending prayers to Paris I began to send prayers to the world emphasizing that we are all GOD’S Children. I then went back to the teachings of Don Miguel Ruiz and The Four Agreements.

If we spent more time teaching this and showing love and compassion toward each other our world would be a better place. If we began to recognize that everyone is a divine child of GOD and GOD doesn’t make any junk we could build people up and thus alleviate the many challenges that we face in our lives. In many cases it is hard to detach from the events that are being reported in the media. What if instead of focusing on the negative that people are doing we begin to focus on the good that people are doing imagine how illuminated our world would be.  If we could simply come together and understand that we are all GOD’S Children our world would become a true kingdom of GOD while we are here on earth.

When I saw this story about millions of children meditating in Thailand I thought where are the big media outlets to cover this? I then thought wouldn’t it be great if all of us on  social media started a movement to profess our love for one another and spread a message that we are all GOD’S Children? On my Facebook feed I have been sharing stories that I have found to be inspiring and empowering.

We can be angry at the terrorists but that anger will not serve us we must show love and compassion toward our fellow humans as well as animals and start to think globally and act locally. Instead of seeing the problems let us actively seek the solutions to embrace the people that come into our lives by showing love. Let us not force our beliefs on anyone and simply understand that as long as we do no harm and make a connection with GOD that things will change for the better.

I found this song and it was fitting that it was performed by someone in The Philippines as I was a U.S.  Peace Corps Volunteer from July 2002 – February 2003 in The Philippines working with at risk youth at a Regional Rehabilitation Center For Youth. It was there that my belief that faith in GOD gives meaning and purpose  to human life was reinforced and that I began to understand that we are all GOD’S Children.

A great reminder to praise GOD and be grateful for all the good he has done in my life.  It is in honoring GOD and recognizing that we are all GOD’S Children that we have the opportunity  to make a positive shift in this world.

It is when we begin to spread love and see that we are all GOD’S Children that we begin to open the channels to improve our personal, professional, and spiritual life. It is through GOD that all things are possible. The next time you see a stranger do not judge simply look up and smile and recognize that they are one of GOD’S children. It is when we all become a shining light for the lord by being of service and value that we create a oneness consciousness that lights up the world.

Remember  that you are a divine child of GOD.  Stay Positive!!! Peace!!!Love!!! Joy!!! Prosperity!!! Namaste!!!

Spiritual Awakening: The Best Day Of My Life!!!

Spiritual Awakening: The Best Day Of My Life!!!

As I sit at Starbucks today to write this entry I start to think how everyday can be the best day of my life. Through the spiritual awakening process I have come to understand that each day we awake we have the opportunity to create a day filled with peace, love, joy, and prosperity. If we wake up and the first thought we have is that today is the day the Lord hath made be glad and rejoice in it we will have a blessed day that will be the best day of my life. Each day is a new day to tap into our inner divinity and make that connection with GOD to create a oneness consciousness. If we are to achieve peace we must first become peaceful. Once we become peaceful we can make everyday the best day of our lives. It is great that we accumulate photographs and memories and can use them to move forward in a positive direction of our dreams, however if we continually bring up the memories we may be hindering our personal, professional, and spiritual growth.

Looking back at the photographs and remembering the memories that they represent can motivate us to take steps to move forward along our spiritual journey. In being motivated to move forward we are able to shine our light bright for others to see and subconsciously we give others permission to shine their light and the whole world is then illuminated. In taking action t make each day the best day of your life you are able to put aside that which may be holding you back and release it so you can be motivated to move forward. I have  found that meditation on the past and learning from the messages that the past has delivered is a great way to still remember while at the same time moving forward.  Every now and again it is great to look at the highlights of your life and then make plans to take action to create new highlights.

Spiritual Awakening: Up, Up, And Away!!!

Spiritual Awakening: Up, Up, And Away!!!

During the spiritual awakening process sometimes it is necessary to get another perspective or see things from a different vantage point. Think about what it would be like to look at things from above and how differently things would look when you were above them as opposed to below them. I remember a trip to The Empire State Building and how fearful I was of the height and how I was making every excuse not to get on the elevator to the observation tower when a friend said Jonathan take a deep breath hold my hand and we will go up, up, and away together. I got on that elevator with my eyes closed and as we ascended to the observation deck I began to open my eyes and I saw New York City from a totally different perspective and I realized then that when you look at the world with your eyes wide open that you gain a new appreciation for what you see and even overcome some fears. By being willing to go up, up, ad away with my friend I was able to apply the experience at The Empire State Building to my personal and professional life and when I found myself fearful I would simply say time to go up, up, and away. In using that as a mantra and an anthem I have been able to conquer several fears and thus face everything and rise instead of forgetting everything and running.  Each time I listen to The 5th Dimension Song Up, Up, and Away my mood becomes more pleasant and joyful and I think what would it be like to get in the Hot Air Balloon and just see the beauty of nature and life from the vantage point of that balloon. The closest I have  come to this has been on airplanes and flying has always been a bit difficult for me as I don’t like to give up control. In learning how to let things go and giving up control I have been able to see things from a different perspective. I recall my plane flight from San Francisco to Manila for my work as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in The Philippines and arriving for a stop over in Tokyo as we approached Toyko’s Airport for landing I looked out the window and I saw some of the sacred temples and thought wow how great this is to be able to see these great historical structures and draw the positive energy from them. I didn’t venture outside the Tokyo Airport however as we were transferring planes I did stop at the gift shop and took in as much as I could to soak in the positive energy. I made it to the gate to board the plane for the final leg of the trip and all the while I get thinking how great this is that I get to go up, up, and away. As we made the final approach into Manila I looked out the window and I saw McDonald’s and thought well at least if I don’t enjoy the Filipino food I will have McDonald’s. We landed and quickly met our Filipino counterparts and claimed our luggage and made our way to where we would stay for orientation. That night I made my way to one of the large hotels in Manila and I took the elevator to the top floor where the pool deck was and I looked out onto Manila and realized just how lucky I was to have the opportunity to be a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer. Over the next 6 months I would put fear and doubt aside and do things that I never thought possible like hiking 10 km up a mountain to the botanical gardens.
Talk about going up, up, and away. When I arrived at the top there was a sari-sari store. I quickly said Gusto Ko Nong Tubig ( I would like water) I bought 4 bottles and walked around the gardens listening to the birds, watching the monkeys, and just admiring the beauty of where I was and taking in the moment. Ne of the workers asked you walk up the mountain? I said yes. he said okay me take you down in Jeepney when you ready.  I did take the jeepney down the mountain and thanked him for the ride. As I walked back into town I realized that sometimes it is when we go up, up, and away that we have our greatest awakenings. While I sat on the bench under a tree with flowers blooming around me and birds flying freely I realized that it is not about the materialistic that matters but the spiritualistic.

Spiritual Awakening: Take A Chance And Dance!!!

Spiritual Awakening: Take A Chance And Dance!!!

For those that know me and have seen me at events you know my spontaneous break dancing and sometimes doing a roundoff just because the spirit moves me. I have had mixed reactions when I do this some get it and join in and and help to shift the energy in the room while others gasp and say that is inappropriate. This is the issue people are so caught up in what other people will think that they do not do what spirit moves them to to do. My thoughts during the spiritual awakening process have been if you aren’t going to support my efforts or book me to emcee or speak at an event because of my doing a roundoff  or break dancing at age 49 then that is your issue not mine. All throughout the scriptures we are told to dance in praise and honor of the lord. In taking action to dance and to share joy with others you open up your heart for GOD to come in and provide joy to you.

In every culture across the globe dance plays a major role in the development of a oneness consciousness where we connect with and honor GOD. Praise dances do not have to be reserved just for church on Sunday. If you are moved to dance then dance and give thanks to GOD for the ability to express joy and happiness through dance. I remember being at an event collecting donations for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life and I broke out in dance and then took the microphone and passed the hat and as a result collected $70. It was at that moment that I realized that if you use your GOD given talents for good that good things happen.

This song has become an anthem of mine as I continue to walk my spiritual path. I know that when I dance to praise and honor GOD that good things happen. I will find myself listening to christian radio and when certain songs come on my mood shifts and positive things happen when I leave the car. For example this week I went to a food Truck Round Up and I said my praise prayer and did a small praise dance before collecting donations for Relay For Life and in a matter of two hours I collected $45. The next day I was at WRPBiTV taping segments for my TV Show, The Anything Bucket, which airs on www.wrpbitv.com on Tuesday at 6:30 PM EDT and one of my guests donated $20 to Relay For Life and also bought the clip of their appearance on my show. It is when we seek and praise GOD that he honors us and supports our efforts to be of value and service.  It only takes 45 seconds to make a positive shift and you can create joy and thus connect with you inner divinity while stepping into your power and unleashing your greatness into the world.

Spiritual Awakening: Turn The Beat Around!!!

Spiritual Awakening: Turn The Beat Around!!!

The year was 1976 and Vickie Sue Robinson had just recorded this song. I was one of the kids who started doing all the  break dance moves and even went as far as laying the cardboard our on the side walk with a box for people to put money in it. I donated a large majority of the monies to charities like The Muscular Dystrophy Association and March Of Dimes.  It is hard to believe  that it has been 39 years since the release of the song but each time it comes on I still feel like busting a move and shifting vibrations. I no longer spin on my head but have been know to do a cartwheel when the spirit moves me. As I reflected back on those days when I was 11 years old I came to realize that I was about service and value even  back then as I ran my first charitable event, a backyard carnival for  The Muscular Dystrophy Association. One could say that as young as 11 I was spiritually awake but didn’t realize how GOD was using me as a conduit to spread a message of peace, love, joy, and prosperity through charitable work.  Through the years I have always believed tat helping others is important. Every year GOD kept giving me messages and putting me in places where I could be of service and value.

In 1978 I was introduced to the group, Kansas, whose song Dust In The Wind has become an anthem for me during the spiritual awakening process. 1978 was also the year of  my Bar-Mitzvah and that year can be traced as the start of my devotion to GOD and beginning my spiritual journey of exploration. Since that time I have forged a spiritual connection with JESUS Christ. I have come to believe that everything is possible through Christ who strengthens me.

In 1983  I was graduating high school and I began to realize that with everything we do in our lives there is always something their to remind us of the ones we love. On the spiritual path these reminders may come in the form of butterflies, flowers, a special song, or a memory triggered by passing by a special place like the park where you shared a kiss, or a tennis court where you shared special moments, or that swimming pool where you set some records. There is always something there to remind you of the joys you had and  sometimes the anguish. As the years go by the anguish lessens and the joy starts to fill you as you move forward in a positive direction of your dreams.

Spiritual Awakening: The Change Of The Tide!!!

Spiritual Awakening: The Change Of The Tide!!!

Where to Go: La Unions Surfing Locations and Tourist SpotsThe year was 2002 and I was a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Buang La Union, Philippines I was well into my path of self discovery and experiencing a spiritual awakening when I discovered the power of the changing of the tide. I had walked about 5 KM from my host family’s house up the beach stopping at a resort to have a snack when I sat peacefully on the seawall watching the waves ebb and flow when I noticed that one of the banka(fishing) boats was coming in and that the crew would struggle to get it to shore so I jumped of the seawall and met the boat a sit came in and the filipino crew seemed frightened at first as they weren’t used to getting help from a stranger but I told them I can help I am pretty strong I lifted the front of the boat and with a few pulls and help from the crew we  brought the boat to shore. The fishermen paid me with an offering of their catch which I brought to my host family to cook. As I reflect back on this moment I am reminded that GOD will put is where we are meant to be so as to be of service and value to others.  Through out the next several months while I served in The U.S. Peace Corps I would have many encounters that would revolve around the change of the tide.  There would be days when I realized that walking back to the host family’s home would be challenging because of high tide and having to dodge waves. It was in these moments that I learned that  you can either wait  for the high tide to pass or you can adjust accordingly.

san luis del mar resort in bauang la union Many a night while in The Philippines this would be my view on my way from The Regional Rehabilitation Center For Youth where I taught Math, English, and Livelihood Skills to the at-risk youth assigned to the center. I would sit on the chair by the water realizing just how grateful I was as not everyone gets to fulfill a dream of traveling to another country and helping other people excel. As I watched the tide come in an out I began to realize that the water represented a flow of life and at anytime that tide can change.  As I became more and more aware of the power of the tide and the vibrational forces of nature i became more productive as I kept myself centered and grounded.

Spiritual Awakening: Time To Change The World!!!

Spiritual Awakening: Time To Change The World!!!

When you are going through the spiritual awakening process you realize that you are not only changing yourself but you are changing the world. When you commit to taking action to be more in tune with your spirituality and to tap into your divine guidance system you take the steps that will enhance your personal and professional life thus changing the world. When you awake in the morning you should be looking for ways to be of service and value to others. In finding and taking advantage of the opportunities to be of service and value you will witness the small changes that lead to changing the world.  When you decide it is time to change the world and you take action you will begin to see the dramatic changes that create a collective consciousness that creates a positive shift in your life and the lives of others. As you move forward in the quest to change the world you will experience personal and professional growth that will allow to enjoy the prosperity that is your birthright.

be the change you want to see in the world gandhisomething and because i cannot do everything i will not refuse to do ...Change the world quotes 1 In our life we will witness injustice and as spiritual beings it is our responsibility to step in and use the divine guidance and our divine guidance to stop the injustice and change the world. If we turn a blind eye to the injustice we are just as guilty as those committing the injustice. So many are fearful of speaking up that they allow the injustice to continue and thus when it continues they feel guilt. Fear and guilt are energy drainers and stop you from making a positive difference in the world. We all have  a voice and it is time to use our collective voices to change the world.  Sometimes eradicating a perceived problem such as a hungry child is simply to buy and prepare food for the child. Sometimes the way to assist a homeless person is simply to talk to the person and see if they desire help to improve their human condition. In most cases you can change the world simply by interacting with people and helping them to step into their power and showing them how to use their talents. Their are certain things you can do to change the world. You can show love and compassion in all you do. You can forgive yourself and others for their transgressions. You can assume an attitude of gratitude. The choice is yours to tap into your spirituality and change the world.
